The VELOCIPASTOR

James is joined by Kari via Skype to discuss the low-budget horror comedy that's streamin' on Amazon, The Velocipastor. It's exactly as the title suggests...

  1. I totally got Monty Python vibes mixed with Scary Movie. Now I know that may be blasphemous to some, but it followed their format exactly. That's why the fx fire was hilarious. China has outlawed all religion. That's why God wouldn't go there. It's not racist. They have so many human rights violations you can't count them... Honestly, you either like movies like this or hate them. 75% of all ratings are 5 stars. You don't get that by not being funny. If you took a movie called Velocipastor seriously... Well you failed. It was on par with b movie mockery.

    1. You have my sincere apologies if I came across as taking the movie seriously at all. I'm a natural over thinker and I end up using that when I review things, sometimes detrimentally. I did find the FX Fire scene part to be quite funny, I apparently came across as not understanding why they did it.

Regarding the racist thing with regards to China, I was referring to Father Stewart's dropped comment when he asked Doug to confirm that the woman who gave him the artifact had said "Dragon Warrior" and he then said "How Eastern". I wasn't a huge fan of Father Stewart in general.

Thank you for clarifying why China would be a place where God would not go. As I wasn't taking the movie too seriously I hadn't tried to find a logical reason for him to go to China.

I try to have fun with movies like this. Overexposure to some pretty bad attempts at making something like this has given me a slightly different standard with which I judge them, but I did laugh quite a bit. I try to bring in my comments and questions to reinforce the absurdity of things, but perhaps I'm failing there. I will do my best to get better at the way I approach my parts in the reviews.

I'm happy that you enjoyed this movie. It is still on the line for me, but I believe I liked more of it than I disliked. I'm also glad that you dropped in a comment, I hope I addressed your issues properly.
